Medicine
continues to be “trial and error”. Devices needed to be developed and
experiments needed to be done. We needed the microscope to see germs and that
got us going in the right direction in the 1500s. The Chemists provided the
answers. The Physicists provided the tools.
The
invention of penicillin in 1928 and the development of antibiotics in the 1940s
was the game changer. It ended the untreatable plagues and wound infections. It
cures infections, inflammation and deadly inflammatory diseases.

Medicine
had a “dead spot” from 10,000 BC to 1500 AD. Wars and plagues took their toll.
After 1500, Medicine did a slow crawl until 1940. After that we got 80 years of
lethal cancer treatments.
