Manufacturing Job Training

Manufacturers are in the process of aligning the coursework in technical schools with their current skilled labor needs. It takes a year or more to get manufacturing space ready to install equipment. The first group of employees needed are Production Technicians who will need to be trained on the equipment these companies plan to install. Production Equipment Companies provide Trainers who are experts on the equipment.

There are currently 500,000 manufacturing job openings in the US that require training in computerized electro-mechanical production equipment set-up and maintenance. These skills are unique to the equipment used and require Technicians trained in electronics, mechanics and software.

Community college “Quick Start: programs were used effectively in the 1980s to prepare students to learn electronic assembly, circuit board test and repair, automatic insertion and wave solder machine set-up, test, maintenance and calibration.

Similar programs are used to prepare Technicians to drill for oil and natural gas, weld pipelines, install electronics sensors and valves and build LNG plant equipment.
