ObamaTrade TAA Vote July 30

The House voted 236 to 189 this afternoon to give GOP leaders and President Obama six more weeks to arm-twist over ObamaTrade. Lawmakers who support the controversial and secretive trade deal now have until July 30 to pressure Democrats and conservative Republicans who voted against it on Friday.

 

National Public Radio reports, "When that second vote might happen is far from clear at this point. [Today,] Democrats were virtually united in opposing the six-week extension to reconsider the matter, even though that's what Obama wanted."

 

Key Republicans who voted against the extension today and refused to support ObamaTrade last week can expect to face intense pressure from GOP leaders over the next six weeks. Tell those lawmakers to stand firm and stop any fast track of the President's secret trade deal!
