History of DuPont.- DuPont was established in 1802, by Eleuthere Irenee Du Pont. Eleuthere Irenee DuPont was an oligarch who ran away from the French revolution and later he founded DuPont in US. ... In 1811, DuPont became the largest supplier of gunpowder for the US military.

E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, commonly referred to as DuPont is an American conglomerate that was founded in July 1802 in Wilmington, Delaware, as a gunpowder mill by French-American chemist and industrialist Éleuthère Irénée du Pont.

In the 20th century, DuPont developed many polymers such as VespelneoprenenylonCorianTeflonMylarKaptonKevlar, Zemdrain, M5 fiberNomexTyvekSoronaCorfam, and Lycra. DuPont developed Freon (chlorofluorocarbons) for the refrigerant industry, and later other refrigerants. It also developed synthetic pigments and paints including ChromaFlair.

In 2014, DuPont was the world's fourth-largest chemical company based on market capitalization and eighth-largest based on revenue. On August 31, 2017, it merged with the Dow Chemical Company to create DowDuPont, the world's largest chemical company in terms of sales, of which DuPont is now a subsidiary. Its stock price is a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

Dow was founded in 1897 by chemist Herbert Henry Dow, who invented a new method of extracting the bromine that was trapped underground in brine at Midland, Michigan. Dow originally sold only bleach and potassium bromide, achieving a bleach output of 72 tons a day in 1902.

The company is headquartered in Ludwigshafen, Germanyand owns various subsidiaries in more than 80 countries around the world. BASF was established on 6 April 1865 in Mannheim by Fredric Engelhorn.

In the 1980s, Asia took most chemical manufacturing from the US. Now Pharma is in the mix and Germany is acquiring US companies.
