China was ruled by Chinese
Emperors in the Quin Dynasty from 1644 to 1912. The Empire was overthrown and a
Provisional Republic was formed by the revolutionary leader in 1912 that
dissolved with his death in 1916. War
Lords took over and were consolidated under the Chinese Republic in 1928. Japan
invaded China in 1937. By 1944, half of China was occupied by Japan.
The Chinese Nationalist Party presided over the chaos and the
Chinese Communist Party was formed in 1921 by Mao Zedong’s forces and the
Chinese government fought the Japanese until they were defeated in 1945. The
Chinese Communist Revolution was fought from 1945 to 1948 and the Communists
won and established the Peoples Republic of China as a Communist One-Party
government. Mao Zedong served as Chairman from 1948 to 1976. The Nationalist government leaders retreated
to the Island of Taiwan where they remain as an independent country.
China and Russia gave military support to the Communist
governments of North Korea during the Korean War in the 1950s and to North
Vietnam in the Vietnam War from 1955 to 1975.
In 1972 US President Richard Nixon visited China to open trade
with China. In 1975 Nixon ended US involvement in defending South Vietnam and
it was reunified as a Communist country.
In 1985 China had a Nominal GDP of $309.5 billion and a
population of 1.05 billion. It was a poor country.
Now, in 2019 China’s nominal GDP is projected to be $14.2
trillion with a population of 1.42 billion and a Nominal Per Capita GDP of
$10,000.

The US off-shored its
manufacturing after 1993 along with its intellectual property. US Nominal GDP
for 2019 is projected to be $21.3 trillion with a population of 329 million and
a Nominal Per Capita GDP of $64,000.
China is now big
enough to take care of itself thanks to excessive imports to the US. The US
needs to take care of itself, restore its economy and pay down its debts.
