H2a Visa Problems

The H2a Visa Program was established for agricultural seasonal workers to ensure support for US farmers who had crops that could not be harvested by machine and required harvesting by hand.

There are 900,000 farm jobs in the US to be done each year. These jobs have been filled by Illegal Immigrants forever, US Farmers have had the opportunity to recruit seasonal laborers through referral from their current workers, usually their friends or relatives.

The US is attempting to expand Legal Temporary Guest Worker Programs to end illegal immigration.

In FY 2018, the US employed 242,762 H2a Visa Holders. Most of these jobs were in farm states with crops that required seasonal labor needs.

When most farms were small family owned and family staffed, their outside labor needs were limited and rural counties were populated enough to employ summer students and local laborers.

When US manufacturing existed in rural counties, the rural labor force was viable.  But when the US off-shored these manufacturing plants, the rural labor force disappeared.

By the 1980s, the A2a Visa Program had been expanded to include all low skilled workers and they took the jobs US teenagers had been doing.  Illegal Immigrants began moving their families to the US to take advantage of US public schools, indigent healthcare and US welfare benefits. Open borders have come to pose a threat to US security from drug gangs and terrorists. Most Identity Theft of Social Security Numbers is due to illegal migrants. These have become too expensive and amount to US taxpayers paying subsidies for illegal workers. It’s a scam.

This needs to change. Non-citizens should not be eligible for welfare and immigration must be based on need and merit. At the same time, students need to retake their low skilled jobs and relocation of families to the US must be closely regulated. The A2a Visa needs to be restricted to agricultural seasonal workers.
