Stamina
Stamina is the ability
to sustain prolonged physical or mental effort. It is associated with staying
power, strength, energy, toughness, determination, perseverance, grit and
tenacity. Like many gifts, stamina can be genetic and learned.
We see examples of
stamina in sports with players who have an extraordinary amount of athletic
talent. The effort they invest is always
based on their love of the sport. They believe in self-actualization and the
inspiration they draw from doing their best.
We see the same
stamina in parents raising their children to learn what they love to do. We see it in business ventures where they
love what they do and find themselves in high demand. That demand further feeds
their energy to produce more stamina. Motivation is fuel for stamina.
We see stamina in
those individuals who are focused and productive. There is an element of play
in work and those who achieve this are blessed.
Attitude
Attitude is defined as
your viewpoint, outlook, perspective, inclination, temperament, approach,
reaction and orientation. Attitude can be generally positive or negative.
A positive attitude is
often the result of the ability to feel grateful. All feelings are motivators.
Good judgment, good choices and good outcomes feed positive attitudes.
Bad attitudes often
result from bad choices and multiple failures to make good choices. Those who
develop bad attitudes have bad outcomes.
Resilience is required
to overcome set-backs. We all have set-backs. But some of us bounce back and
others don’t. It may be a lack of stamina or confidence.
Remember, God has a
plan for you and you aren’t necessarily going to like all of it. You just need
to bounce back and overcome your difficulties.
My career choices were
based on my list of things I wanted to know and needed to test and apply. I was
there to accomplish these things and I was well received. I was never there to go along for the ride.
They all knew and respected that and I appreciated their understanding. I
always felt grateful for the experience.
