The Kingdom of Rome
began in 753 BC and developed into the Roman Republic in 509 BC and finally the
Roman Empire in 27 BC.
By 290 BC, Rome had
conquered Italy. By 86 BC, Rome controlled Italy, Spain and territories
bordering the Mediterranean Sea.
By 9 AD Rome
controlled Italy, Spain, France, Egypt, Greece some of Persia and all coastal
areas of the Mediterranean Sea. By 80 AD Rome had added Britain.
By 375 AD Rome was
losing its territories. In 395 AD Rome split into Eastern and Western Empires.
By 480 AD the Western Empire was lost and the Eastern Empire shrank and
struggled until 1461.
