Flat Screen TV History

Flat Screen began with the US military in the 1950s for radar monitors and heads-up displays. TV and Computer monitors had bulky cathode ray tubes. Westinghouse developed Plasma and LED panels in the 1970s. By 2012, 50% of all LCD and LED flat screens were made in Taiwan.

In the 2000s, TV and Computer Monitors began to be replaced by lighter weight flat screen monitors. This technology was applied to smartphones.

As prices of flat screen TVs dropped in the 2010s, old bulky CRT monitors disappeared and were replaced by flat screens.
