From
1/1/19 to 8/3/19, we’ve had 27,606 fires in the US destroying 3,310,790 acres.
As of 8/3/19, we have 93 large fires affecting 1,720,079 acres with 45 fires in
Alaska and the other 48 fires all on the west coast including Arizona,
California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and
Washington. These are the traditional fire festival revelers.
The 10
year average from 2009 to 2018 was 39,397 fires destroying 4,155,217 acres.
The East
coast rarely participates in this annual festival, because most of the forests
on the East coast are owned and maintained by private sector family tree
farmers, who live on their properties.
