Just Repeal Obamacare

Republicans in Congress need to repeal Obamacare and not replace it.  The subsidies Obama granted with Obamacare that were cost shifted to all other health insurance participants is in a death spiral.  There should be no replacement. This federal subsidy should end.

 

There should be deregulation of healthcare and an end to malpractice suits and the “defensive medicine” it brings. Private hospitals should no longer be expected to treat patients who don’t pay. They should be referred to County subsidized facilities.

 

Removing the Obamacare federal subsidies will cause medical costs to be reduced by the same amount as the subsidies. Providers base their costs on the amount of federal subsidies that are available.

 

Reducing medical costs for the most expensive patients should be the focus of government action. Trump needs to call out price gouging by big pharma and enable cheaper options to be approved by the FDA.

 

Requiring healthcare providers to disclose treatment costs to patients ahead of time and allow insurance across state lines are the only laws that need to be passed.  Beyond that, insurance companies and insurance consumers should be left alone to deal with healthcare in a free market.
