Property Rights

Not long ago, property owners could protect their property from crime by attacking the criminals. Those days are gone.

This was when the law was on the side of the property owner, not the criminal.  As soon as property owners were subject to legal action against their rights to self-defense, the deterrence began to disappear.  Now homeowners need to be careful to keep burglars free from harm.  They can shoot criminal invaders only under certain conditions and only in their homes.  If they shoot an intruder in their yard, they’re in trouble.  What kind of deterrence is that?  Criminals are likely to break into your house in hopes that they can file a lawsuit against you.

You can’t have it both ways. If you want to coddle criminals, you will encourage more criminal activity.

Laws that ignore personal property rights need to be restored and criminals seeking redress from victims need to be laughed at.

Police invasions should be no exception. Police should not be allowed to break down your door in the middle of the night and shoot you based on a bad tip.
