article “DeKalb commissioners lean toward new booting regulations, not a ban”.
Some on the commission are arguing to ban booting, but booting companies
objected. Go figure. So they are going to debate “to boot of not to boot”.
The boot is a lock on
your tire. Booting companies put them on your car or truck if you are parked
“illegally”.
DeKalb Commissioners
are considering letting Booting Companies to charge up to $75 to remove their
boots on cars and up to $300 to remove them from tractor trailer trucks. Boots
must be removed within 40 minutes after fines are paid. Signs announcing
booting must be posted that fines are $200 for illegal parking. DeKalb is
considering this because the Booting Companies want them to require booting.
No other counties
allow booting, because it’s too abusive. Most illegally parked cars are broken
down.
This as another
version of having your car towed away. The fee is normally $15 per day, plus
fines.
Abusing residents with
excessive fees and fines, abusive processes, property seizure and extracting
money is common.
