There is obviously good and bad in the election results!
When I think about this election I’m struck by one major image – a strong, determined, impassioned President who refused to accept defeat as he barnstormed the nation to rally support and get our side to take action. It worked!
Now, as we move forward we all need to follow his example especially on the local level. We need to stand strong, rally local neighbors to stand with us against the powerful forces who are controlling our local city councils and county commissions.
I have been spreading that message all year and it’s resulting in some surprise victories. Let me give you some examples. We've received reports from activists and elected officials who have taken my message to heart:
In South Carolina activists who heard my message are now working to stop a community sustainable development plan.
In Michigan, after we had an in-depth conversation, a courageous activist has managed to get property rights language in his community plan. He is now leading an incredible fight to have all the members of his township board removed from office because of their corruption.
In Nebraska, two determined city councilmen, who have read my information, recognized that their corrupt city administrator was systematically enforcing Sustainable policy at his whim, ignoring any of their attempts to voice opposition. That's when they contacted me for help, and they are now working to have him removed from office.
To my great surprise, I was invited to speak to a significant association of landlords in Los Angeles who are now learning they are the targets of a direct attack on their private property through sustainable rules and regulations. After my presentation, they now know what they are facing.
Then I was invited to Oklahoma City to speak to a courageous cattleman's association that is fighting to stop radical environmentalists from destroying their cattle industry. The Green's real goal is to shut it down and eliminate beef. These folks are desperate to save their livelihoods. Then the victories started to roll in.
HUD Secretary Ben Carson finally is taking action to roll back the disastrous Obama-created Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Initiative (AFFH), which APC has been pressuring him to do. Secretary Carson opened up an opportunity for comments from the public, and I personally delivered over 1,000 comments from APC supporters opposing the plan.
As I reported to you earlier, in the tiny community of Bayou La Baitre, Alabama, local activists, who had been alerted to Agenda 21 through one of my speeches, were able to recognize and end a growing threat to their community from radical environmentalists.
In a rural area outside Shreveport, Louisiana, dedicated local residents, armed with APC materials, were able to unite and defeat the creation of the Caddo Lake National Heritage Area.
The city council of Hesperia, California became the first city to reject Agenda 21 policy when it opted out of the San Bernardino County "Vision" Statement. This threw a major monkey wrench into the plans for the regional government through the San Bernardino Council of Governments.
Activists are using our "Candidate's Promise to Protect Property Rights" to confront their candidates as they campaign, it's a major start to making Property Rights an issue they are forced to discuss.
Finally, I just successfully launched the Property Rights Network by holding our first national conference call. Several hundred activists and elected officials joined the call to begin the process of sharing ideas, networking, and learning how to fight back.
This is what my tiny little organization – the American Policy Center has accomplished this year!
I have only been able to do it because of your incredible support. We are not only fighting back- but winning some important battles.
Together you and I can stop the bulldozers of eminent domain in the cities. We can save our rural areas and keep them independent. And we can end the massive corruption coming from the grants that are destroying local rule. I promise, armed with your support, I will continue to lead this fight with all the energy and creativity I can muster.
