Bad Trade Agreements Ahead

Republicans could begin by taking 2 steps backward on this one.  McConnell wants to pass fast track for Obama to bring Asian and European trade agreements to Congress for an up or down vote.

Lame Duck Congress – Email from Phillip E. Myers

When congress returns Nov 12th, I expect them to try to clean out some old business they were afraid to tackle before the elections. I heard Sen. McConnell say he expected/wanted to pass the TPA. (Trade Promotion Authority AKA fast track) This gives the president authority to do the negotiation and accelerate the signing process on agreements with foreign governments. Congress can only vote Y or N but cannot alter or amend it.

I heard PM Abe of Japan call for faster process of the TPP (TransPacific Partnership). A collection of 11 nations, some in the pacific rim, who will be able to impose diverse regulations on the U.S. to hinder our markets there while expanding their markets here.

The European equivalent is the TTIP (TransAtlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) that will further engage the U.S. with the European Union. The U.S. Trade Representative and his staff are a squad of leftist lawyers who will negotiate in a way to bind us to them just as the Europeans have the 28 nations who surrendered their sovereignty for a promise of protection from Germany, who is on the hook for financial support. England is a member but does not use the Euro for currency. PM Cameron is talking about getting the U.K out of the Union.

The U.S. is the only country involved in these Partnerships that even calls itself a capitalist state but in truth we are pretty much a fascist state with our government controlling the means of production. (EPA, OSHA, FTC, FCC, Sec of Commerce, Sec. of Labor, NLRB, etc., etc.)

I also expect the Law of The Sea Treaty(LOST) to be slipped in during these few days.

I hope you will join me in contacting our senators to press for rejection of these partnerships, beginning with the TPA. Let's get busy on the phones and email Monday and ask your friends in other states to help.

Friends, I'm passing along this informative email from my friend Phil Myers in GA. The Lame Duck Congress can be the most dangerous time for America, as many awful pieces of legislation and treaties can get passed...like the ones discussed below...

These trade agreements will likely cost jobs, sovereignty and the 2016 election if they pass. I would oppose fast track for Obama and let these treaties twist in the wind and kill them when they ripen on their own. Trade agreements should simmer in the sunlight long enough to let voters smell how rotten they are.  We should pick these apart for months and have Congress question our “negotiators” to expose their incompetence.
