Former Trump Campaign Advisor Jerome Corsi Suing Mueller
for Trying to Force Him to Plead Guilty in Russia Probe.
Robert
Mueller’s “witch hunt” may be over but political commentator and onetime Trump
campaign advisor Jerome Corsi isn’t through with Mueller. He claims Mueller’s
team tried to pressure him into pleading guilty to two process crimes similar
to George Papadopoulos and General Mike Flynn.
Speaking
to Breitbart News last Thursday, Corsi said, “I got subpoenaed on August 28. I
provided my computers, my laptops, my backup devices, everything, I voluntarily
gave to the Special Counsel and to his prosecutors, and from the beginning,
they treated me like a criminal.”
Corsi’s
attorney, Freedom Watch founder Larry Klayman told The Hill in January that
Mueller’s investigation issued a subpoena for documents that was “overly broad”
and “part of continued harassment from this committee.”
Corsi
went on the offensive and told reporters he and his stepson had been subpoenaed
to provide grand jury testimony as part of the Russia probe. As far as it
concerns Corsi, they were “looking for anything” they could find.
That
subpoena was a part of Mueller’s last-ditch attempt to find anything he could
to justify his committees continued existence.
Mueller,
according to Corsi, believed he and longtime Trump confidant Roger Stone had
advanced knowledge of plans by WikiLeaks to release emails of top Hillary
Clinton 2016 campaign officials. Stone emailed Corsi in July 2016 and suggested
he should reach out to then-WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange to gain
access to these emails.
Both
Stone and Corsi denied any wrongdoing with Stone saying, he had “no advanced
notice of the source or content or the exact timing of the release of the WikiLeaks
disclosures.”
As he
did with General Flynn, Mueller angled for a procedural charge since no
evidence of collusion presented was to be found.
When
Mueller pushed Corsi to sign a plea deal, the conservative commentator filed a
complaint with the Justice Department. He told CNN, “They can put me in prison
the rest of my life. I am not going to sign a lie.”
In
the complaint Corsi’s attorney called on the Justice Department to investigate
Muller’s heavy-handed tactics. That complaint reads:
Special Counsel Mueller and his prosecutorial staff
should respectfully be removed from his office and their practice of the law
and a new Special Counsel appointed who respects and will obey common and
accepted norms of professional ethics and the law and who will promptly
conclude the so-called Russian collusion investigation which had been illegally
and criminally spinning out of control.
Last
week, Corsi turned the tables. He filed a $350 million lawsuit against Mueller,
the FBI, the CIA, the Justice Department, and several other agencies.
Corsi’s
lawsuit reveals the length to which Robert Mueller and members of the Deep
State will go to protect their place in Washington. He hasn’t been afraid to
say Mueller and others are part of a “politically corrupt justice and
intelligence system” that is very, very biased against the Constitution” and
President Trump.
Corsi
told Jake Tapper of CNN last Friday that he and his family are relieved the
Mueller investigation has concluded. “We feel vindicated,” he said, “I did
nothing wrong.”
Referring
to Mueller’s actions, Corsi slammed the special counsel’s attempt to force him
to plead guilty to a crime he didn’t commit. ”I went in there to cooperate with
them. They treated me as a criminal,” Corsi said. “I consider this entire
investigation to be fraudulent. I’m glad it’s over.”
Freedom
Watch’s complaint targets the Justice Department and alleges the Department’s
attorneys attempted to coerce him to give false testimony.
The
nearly 80-page document asserts the existence of a “slow-motion coup against
the president.”
Former
Trump personal attorney Michael Cohen buckled under the same kind of threat and
intimidation but Corsi was not nearly so compliant. The complaint against
Mueller states that he “knowingly and deceitfully” threatened to charge Dr.
Corsi with an alleged false statement,” unless he agreed to give them “false
testimony” against Trump and others.
Perhaps
the most telling interview Corsi has given is one with Tucker Carlson of Fox
News. He told Carlson that Mueller’s team “was happy” with his answers until he
couldn’t “give them what they wanted.”
Call
it an investigation or call it a witch hunt, Corsi’s story proves without a
doubt – finding the truth was not the main objective of the Mueller
investigation from the beginning.
