Drug Cartel Extraction 8-18-25

In February 2025, the U.S. State Department designated the following eight cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) and Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs): 

1.    Tren de Aragua (TdA)

2.    Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13)

3.    Cártel de Sinaloa

4.    Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG)

5.    Cártel del Noreste (CDN) (formerly Los Zetas)

6.    La Nueva Familia Michoacana (LNFM)

7.    Cártel de Golfo (CDG) (Gulf Cartel)

8.    Cárteles Unidos (CU) 

These designations aim to combat the violence and terror caused by these groups, both within the U.S. and internationally.  Note: While some sources mention eleven cartels initially considered for designation, the official State Department designation applies to the eight listed above, according to the U.S. Department of State. 

Several transnational criminal organizations and drug cartels have been designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) and Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs) by the United States. 

Eight organizations have been designated as both FTOs and SDGTs:

·       Tren de Aragua (TdA): A Venezuelan transnational organization involved in various criminal activities.

·       Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13): A group with ties to Central America and operations in multiple countries.

·       Cártel de Sinaloa: A transnational organization based in Sinaloa, Mexico.

·       Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG): This transnational organization operates across Mexico.

·       Cártel del Noreste (CDN), formerly Los Zetas: Based in northeastern Mexico, involved in various illicit activities.

·       La Nueva Familia Michoacana (LNFM): This successor operates in Michoacán and other Mexican states.

·       Cártel del Golfo (Gulf Cartel): A violent transnational organization based in northeast Mexico.

·       Cárteles Unidos (CU): This violent transnational organization formed from an alliance of groups in Michoacán, Mexico. 

These designations aim to provide law enforcement with additional tools to combat these organizations, particularly by targeting their financial networks and those who support them.

Trump is proposing sending Drones to take out the Drug Facilities in Mexico. Trump’s 20% Tariffs on China for sending Fentanyl to Mexico should give China the incentive to end this.

US borders include the Southern Border with Mexico, the Northern Border with Canada, the

Atlantic Ocean in the East and the Pacific Ocean in the West.

The US needs US Shore Patrol Interdiction Data and US Customs Interdiction Data.
