US Trade Deal with Ecuador 8-7-25

In the first five months of 2025, the U.S. trade balance with Ecuador resulted in a deficit of $604.45 million. U.S. exports to Ecuador were $3.48 billion, while imports from Ecuador were $4.09 billion, according to USTradeNumbers.com and the Census Bureau. This represents a 19.75% increase in total trade volume compared to the same period last year.  

Imports

·       In May 2025, the U.S. imported $777 million from Ecuador.

·       Overall, U.S. imports from Ecuador rose 11.56 percent through May compared to the same period last year.

·       Top 5 imports by value through May 2025:

1.    Oil: $1.23 billion

2.    Shrimp, other crustaceans: $662.29 million

3.    Cocoa beans: $549.63 million

4.    Fresh-cut flowers: $311.46 million

5.    Bananas and plantains: $260.67 million

·       These top five categories accounted for 73.79 percent of total U.S. imports from Ecuador during this period. 

Exports

·       In May 2025, the U.S. exported $739 million to Ecuador.

·       Overall, U.S. exports to Ecuador increased 31.04 percent through May compared to the same period last year.

·       Top 5 exports by value through May 2025:

1.    Gasoline, other fuels: $1.82 billion

2.    Natural gas, LNG: $287.09 million

3.    Plastics: $100.53 million

4.    Uncoated kraft paper, paperboard: $98.75 million

5.    Low-value shipments: $81.56 million

·       These top five categories accounted for 68.62 percent of total U.S. exports to Ecuador.

The May 2025 trade data shows a balance with $777 million Imports from Ecuador and $739 ,Exports to Ecuador.
