Michelle Nunn’s ad criticizing David Perdue for his
experience in off-shoring jobs should backfire on her.
Companies have been forced to flee the U.S. in order to
stay in business. Companies have always been free to move anywhere and after
they perfected their manufacturing processes it became possible to reduce their
costs by 50% by moving out of the U.S. to low cost countries.
Federal government actions are responsible for the
off-shoring binge beginning with NAFTA and the elimination of tariffs that used
to be used to equalize costs and maintain strategic industry capabilities for
defense and patent concerns.
Unnecessary federal regulations, the promise of higher
energy costs, the continued high 35% corporate tax rate and union abuse
contributed to the flight. Democrats like unnecessary regulations, high energy costs, high tax rates and
unions.
Emerging countries were quick to give these companies
free land use, tax holidays and cash as additional incentives.
David Perdue’s experience in negotiating off-shoring
projects gave him rare knowledge of all the pieces needed to craft new
legislation to enable the cost gap to close and jobs to return. This will require lowering the corporate tax especially
for manufacturing, repealing unnecessary regulations to ensure lower energy
costs and repealing job-killing laws like Obamacare. Democrats won’t want to do
any of that.
