Comments

Georgia ranks 8th in State Nominal GDP of $588.2 billion in 2019. Georgia has a robust agricultural economy.  Georgia rainfall averages 50 inches per year.  But the big money comes from the large cities like Atlanta. Georgia has a population of 10.6 million and over half live in the large cities.

Rural counties and large cities were both hard hit by the off-shoring of manufacturing jobs, but the cities recovered a bit by adding more corporate headquarters and a few large manufacturing plants. The electronics boom of the 1980s brought 100 electronics manufacturing plants to Georgia, but they closed with the end of the electronics and telecom design cycles in the 2000s. Georgia needs to restore manufacturing, particularly in the rural cities.

Norb Leahy, Dunwoody GA Tea Party Leader
